Utrecht, April 30, 2018 - On March 14 and 15, WCC participated in an event organized by the Asian Development Bank. The ADB was conceived in the early 1960s as a financial institution, Asian in character, that fosters economic growth and cooperation in one of the world's poorest regions.
ADB assists its members and partners by providing loans, technical assistance, grants, and equity investments to promote social and economic development.
Employment is a crucial factor in a country's social and economic development, especially where vulnerable groups are concerned, such as young people, women, and jobseekers with disabilities. In many of the countries financially supported by the ADB, the local PES and social benefit systems need further development. Many Western countries are already very advanced in these matters. ADB-supported countries might be able to learn a lot from these countries, adopting the successful elements and avoiding the mistakes. Of course, each country should adapt the systems and processes to its specific circumstances. This includes supporting technologies, such as the PES software WCC provides.
Together with representatives of ADB, we spent two days identifying which countries in the Asian region would benefit the most from WCC's software in terms of economic growth. In the coming period, we will share our knowledge and experience in the field of software solutions for Public Employment Services with these countries.
